Blue Hills Berries and Cherries is a family owned and operated farm. The Chapman family have farmed in Silvan since 1894 and are best known for their quality fresh fruit and provision of ‘Pick Your Own’ or ‘U-Pick’ cherries. A wealth of farming knowledge has been passed down through the generations to ensure you get the best quality fruit the Yarra Valley and Dandenong ranges has to offer. We use integrated pest management and sustainable food practices.
At Blue Hills you can experience for yourself the fun and satisfaction of harvesting your own sweet, ripe cherries seasonally or purchase fresh picked berries & Cherries from the farm gate. Wander through our gift shop and discover delicious handmade treats from local artisan producers and berry jams made at the farm. It’s a great day out for every one!
The ‘Silly Season’ is also the ‘busy berry & cherry season’ at Blue Hills. Local, interstate and international visitors flock to the farm from November to January to enjoy the U-Pick experience.

William Chapman came from Charlotte plains (later called Carisbrook), near Maryborough Victoria with his brother Walter in 1892. They worked for Tom Lewis in Wandin for two years and lived on his land before purchasing their own properties.
William married Estella Hunter in 1894 and they had 11 children. Their son Ralph Chapman was one of their children to continue the farming tradition. Ralph and his wife Florence had 7 children. Their son Murray and his two brothers eventually took over the management of Ralphs property and later formed separate farm businesses.
Murray Chapman married Lorraine in 1967 and they had 3 children. Today their son Kevin Chapman manages their busy farm ‘Blue Hills Berries and Cherries’ with his wife Tracey. They have two children who like to help out during the harvest season and you will still see Murray out and about on the tractor and Lorraine in the shed when it’s busy.
